Short. Direct. To the point.

Example

So basically I need to email our lead investor Sarah at Sequoia because we kind of missed our Q1 revenue target, it was about 15% under, and I’m not sure how to frame it without it sounding terrible. The thing is it was really just one client, Walmart, they churned and they were like 22% of our ARR so it looks way worse than it is. Our pipeline for Q2 is actually really strong, probably the best we’ve ever had. But the board meeting is Tuesday and I don’t want her to be blindsided by the numbers. I just don’t know how to say all this without sounding like I’m making excuses.
